Countries of the World Homeschooling Resources

Do you want to include geography and culture study with your middle school or high school students this year? Here you’ll find a list of the 195 recognized countries of the world (current as of 2023). Along with the list of countries, I’ve included lots of fun homeschool learning resources for studying the countries of the world.

These resources include websites, video links, unit studies, and curriculum. If you’re planning to spend time on a world geography and culture study with your kids, bookmark this page for easy reference.

List of Countries

This list includes all 195 countries currently recognized by the United States. The main omission is Taiwan, which is not recognized as an independent legal government.

Obviously, you should personally vet these resources for your own family. My children are middle and high school levels, but I have included some resources here that are appropriate for elementary school ages as well.

Homeschool Resources for Learning World Geography and Culture

My kids began developing an interest in learning about the countries of the world through my mini-unit studies and watching the Geography NOW YouTube channel. That led to exploring geography games such as Globle and online geography quizzes.

Offer your kids bite-sized bits of fun learning opportunities and see what generates interest or sparks enthusiasm for them.
