How to Include Creative Project Ideas in Your Homeschool

Your child is likely to find some of these more intriguing than others. Here are a few ways you can include these ideas in your homeschool without overwhelming your kids.

  • allow them to substitute a reasonable project of their choice for a test, essay, book report, or other assignment included in their curriculum
  • look through the table of contents or skim your curriculum to determine places where an alternate way of demonstrating learning might be appropriate (e.g. nutrition curriculum: debate over eating vs. not eating meat, psychology curriculum: design greeting cards to speak to specific emotions)
  • ditch the literature comprehension questions in exchange for creating a soundtrack, writing an alternate ending, or designing a movie poster and review
  • show them the entire list of project ideas and allow them to create their own assignment around a project they want to do and a topic related to something they love (video games, sports, dogs)

These creative project ideas will engage your students and result in lifelong memories and learning that lasts.
