List of Fun Learning Resources for Kids

list of fun learning resources

If you’re homeschooling, distance learning, or looking to keep your kids occupied over a long summer break, you need a list of fun learning resources for kids.

My 2nd, 4th, and 6th graders helped me brainstorm some activity ideas, and I added lots of online learning websites to share a list of resources you can use to keep your kids engaged in learning and creative play. We have two lists going: one for websites and online learning resources and another list of general activity ideas.

Educational Websites

(Add a bookmark folder with websites for your kids to visit and pin it to the toolbar for them to easily access.)

For LOTS more ideas, visit openculture.com and spend the next week browsing all the options!

Activity Ideas

These are a combination of my suggestions and ideas my kids brainstormed themselves of things they would like to do. We’re looking at this as an opportunity to step back from our regularly rushed weekly programming and I’m asking them what they are interested in doing or learning. We are blessed to have unbelievable access to information; you can find an article, video, or tutorial for almost anything your kids come up with.

  • coding
  • knitting
  • LEGO challenges
  • language learning (Duolingo app)
  • journaling
  • gardening
  • coloring
  • creative lettering
  • learn-to-draw videos
  • crossword/word search/Sudoku puzzles
  • virtual field trips
  • crafts/art class
  • baking
  • recording stories to post online
  • making their own exercise videos (and holding classes for the family!)
  • watching movies
  • making a mural
  • learning about the periodic table
  • playing Risk (and other games)
  • write and act out a play
  • family Olympics
  • science experiments

March Home/School Plan

We will institute a little bit more structure starting in April, but for the next couple of weeks our plans are pretty simple.
