A Year of Children’s Books

Children's books gift list

My kids know that they are going to receive a book from me every Christmas, birthday, and sometimes on Easter or Valentine’s Day too! Books are my favorite gift to give. Since I also love monthly or seasonal themes, I put together a year of children’s books perfect to give as gifts.

This list of twelve children’s books would be a sweet baby shower gift or gift for a new mom. If you want to go all out, you could purchase the whole set, but a book corresponding to the birth month of the baby would be sweet all on its own. These would also make a lovely birthday gift for a young child.

Author/Illustrator Birth Month List

Alternatively, you can gift a book written by a children’s author who has the same birth month. It creates a fun connection for kids to know that the person who wrote or illustrated the book shares a birthday month with them. These printable happy birthday cards go along with any book you choose to gift from one of these authors.

Happy Birthday author card

Each card says “Happy Birthday! Did you know that you share a birthday month with someone else who is pretty amazing?” It includes the author’s or illustrator’s birth date and a simple fact about them. Plus there is a quote either from the author directly or from one of their books.

The printable contains all 48 author cards! Grab your free printable Author Happy Birthday Cards!

Choose a book appropriate for your child’s age, or one they can grow into, and add the corresponding author happy birthday card for a thoughtful gift kids will love. Don’t forget to inscribe a birthday note inside with the date and a message to encourage and inspire the birthday boy or girl
