Letter of the Week Theme: T is for Transportation
Our letter of the week theme today is: “T” is for Transportation!” (Find the complete A-Z outline on my preschool plan page.) Along with the letter of the week, we explore, numbers, shapes, and colors. You’ll get song, game, craft, and snack ideas, plus printables!

Color of the Week = shades (adding black)
Shape of the Week = hexagon
Letter Activities
- Identify the letter T: look for T in books and on signs
- Color, stamp, or decorate the letter T (download a free printable HERE)
- Practice writing the letter T (download a free printable for letters S and T HERE)
- Go on a letter sound hunt around the house (look for items that start with the letter of the week)
- Look at a picture dictionary and talk about words that start with T

- Counting practice
- Practice identifying and writing the numbers 1-20 (download a free printable HERE)
SHAPE AND COLOR ACTIVITIES
- Color and decorate hexagon shapes (download a free printable HERE)
- Color mixing: add black to colors this week to explore shades. (A printable worksheet for this activity is included in my Preschool Curriculum, available in my Etsy shop.)
Letter “T” and Transportation Theme Activities
- Physical activity: tumbling, tight-rope walking (line on the floor), tiptoe, ride a bicycle, or hike on a trail
- Toy toss into plastic totes (label one with T or a hexagon for extra points!)
- Play with trains, build towers, or make a blanket tunnel
- Let your child take a turn being teacher (teach how to make the letter T, the number 2, or a triangle)
- Tracing: use tracing paper against a window and trace a picture of a truck, a turtle, or a town
- Practice talking on a telephone (cell phone or toy phone): learn how to say hello, ask a question and wait for a response, say goodbye before hanging up
- Play tic-tac-toe
- Have a tea party
- Teeth: talk about proper tooth brushing (Daniel Tiger | Daniel Gets His Teeth Cleaned – YouTube-PBS Kids)

Amazing Tulip Fields (YouTube – Ruedi Abbuhl): This video shows up close views of tulips, alternating with aerial footage of the gorgeous fields of tulips in the Netherlands.
