July Birthstone
July’s birthstone is a ruby, which is also the gemstone designated for the 15th and 40th wedding anniversaries. Known for its fiery red color, it does come in a range of colors ranging from a deep, bright pink to magenta.
A secondary birthstone recognized for July is onyx, a hard black stone that was popularly used to make cameo jewelry in the Victorian era.
July Flower
The traditional birth flower for July is the larkspur (delphinium). Larkspur is associated with lightness and a carefree spirit. These flowers come in purple, pink, and white varieties.
July also has a secondary birth flower, the water lily (nymphaea). Common meanings associated with water lilies are innocence and renewal. As the name suggests, water lilies are often used in water gardens and come in white, pink, yellow, and red varieties.
