September Birthstone

September’s birthstone is sapphire, known for its deep blue color. This stone has traditionally represented truth, sincerity, and nobility, having been associated with royalty for thousands of years.

September Flower

The traditional birth flower for September is the aster. Asters are a member of the daisy family and provide bright color for the garden in late summer/early fall. The flowers come in a variety of colors: white, yellow, pink, purple, red, and blue. Aster means star in Greek and have been a symbol of wisdom, patience, and friendship.

September also has a secondary birth flower, the morning glory, a fast-growing vine with flowers that open in the morning and close in the afternoon. Morning glory vines and flowers are toxic and should not be ingested.
